MiraDry to Reduce Armpit Sweat
Everyone expects to get a little sweaty at some point in their life. But what happens when sweat and odor strikes at inopportune times or when it’s NOT expected? Excessive sweating, or hyperhidrosis, can really get in the way of your day to day life. Between constant sweat mark checks, outfit changes, and the endless trial and error attempts of finding a deodorant that actually works, it may feel like excessive sweating is adding stress to your life that you don’t have time for or just don’t need! If you’re ready to stop worrying about excessive sweat and want a permanent solution, miraDry may be right for you!
What is MiraDry?
MiraDry is a noninvasive treatment used to drastically reduce any underarm sweat and odor you might experience. It does this by using microwave technology to safely, effectively, and permanently target and eliminate sweat and odor glands from the armpits.
Is MiraDry Safe?
YES! MiraDry has been cleared by the FDA as an effective treatment for reducing underarm sweat and odor. It has been used in over 140,000 treatments with an outstanding safety record. The treatment is completely noninvasive. Many people might think permanently removing sweat glands from your armpits could inhibit your body’s natural ability to regulate temperature through sweating, but that is not the case. Only a small percentage of the body’s sweat glands are located in the armpits, therefore their removal does affect your body’s overall heat regulating abilities.
Does MiraDry Hurt?
Local anesthesia is administered to the patient’s underarms prior to the treatment for ensured comfort. Most patients report the miraDry treatment as painless with little to no recovery time. Common side effects include redness, swelling, soreness, and sensitivity of the underarms in the days following the treatment. Side effects are usually mild and most patients return to their normal activities immediately. But it is good practice to give yourself a few days to heal and recover after your treatment.
Does MiraDry Stop Odor?
Miradry drastically reduces armpit odor. Apocrine glands are largely responsible for underarm odor. The fluid they secrete reacts with bacteria on the skin producing an unpleasant smell. Miradry eliminates apocrine glands in the armpits creating an unsuitable environment for bacteria to live.
How Long Does MiraDry Take?
Many clients begin seeing results after just one treatment, but your physician will determine how many treatments are right for you. An appointment typically takes about an hour.
Can MiraDry be Used on the Face?
Currently, miraDry is only FDA approved to treat excessive sweat and odor in the armpits. Treatment for other areas where excessive sweating may occur are not yet available.
Does miraDry remove hair?
Because hair follicles are close to sweat glands, miraDry will affect them as well, resulting in partial underarm hair reduction. Hair regrowth will likely be thinner, finer, and less dense.
