In this modern age, whether you find yourself being categorized as a “boomer” or a millennial, you probably are continually being swept away by all the amazing innovations and bounds in technology. It seems like every other week astounding advances are being made, and the old ways of doing things are being replaced with ways to do them better.

One of the most amazing advances in the world of cosmetic treatments is BroadBand Light therapy, a laser treatment that is changing the way people view anti-aging skincare and cosmetic enhancement options. BroadBand Light laser treatments will leave you with real life-changing results, unlike many other laser therapies, skin serums and creams, and other products that make claims that simply do not follow through!

What is a BroadBand Laser Treatment?

A BroadBand laser treatment (also referred to as a photorejuvination or photofacial) is a game-changing, anti-aging treatment specifically designed to address skin texture issues and discoloration. BroadBand Laser treatments differ from other skin laser treatments. Most laser treatments involve only one wavelength of energy, while BBL treatments utilize multiple wavelengths.

BroadBand Laser Treatment Benefits

Because BBL uses multiple wavelengths, it’s an incredibly effective treatment.  And BroadBand laser treatments can be done almost all over the body: on the face, the hands, the chest, and more! They treat a wide variety of skin conditions including damaged veins or blood vessels, acne scarring, rosacea, age spots, and even freckles.

And the BBL benefits don’t stop there: Not only can these lasers remove unwanted blemishes, they can also renew your skin’s texture so you have smooth, luminous skin.

How Does BBL Work?

It may be counter-intuitive, but BBL gently damages your skin to stimulate skin repair and undo damage from years of sun burns, face scrubbing, and aging. The therapeutic-grade light energy heats the skin when signals your body to produce more collagen in that area to repair the damage. And the renewal process continues even after your treatment.

And some research suggests that BBL’s ability to treat skin conditions doesn’t stop at the surface level. Research published in The Journal of Investigative Dermatology suggests that BBL has the capability to renew your skin’s very DNA – even the genes linked to aging.

What's the Recovery from BBL Like?

BBL treatments are quick and easy. You will be able to walk out of your appointment and drive yourself home or back to work after your BroadBand Laser treatment. You can even reapply your makeup after the treatment!

You might experience a small amount of redness or swelling after your treatment – especially if you have a red complexion or received treatment around your eyes.  But it’s nothing that ice packs can’t help! If you’ve received treatment for hyper-pigmentation, you may notice that the spots look darker at first and may peel. These symptoms generally are mild and disappear within a few days.

Any extremely active or high-level activities should be avoided for the next few days, and no tanning or other excessive sun exposure for the first month.

When Will I See the BBL Treatment Results?

Because it takes time for you skin to repair after the BBL treatment, you won’t experience the full results of your treatment immediately after treatment.

But after 2-6 weeks, any swelling or redness you experienced will have subsided, and your amazing results will be emerging. You will begin to see fewer wrinkles, firmer skin, and reduced discoloration. Pores will be less obvious, as well as any burst blood vessels or acne. Your skin will be healthy, happy, youthful, and absolutely glowing!

How Often Should I Recieve a BBL Treatment?

Younger, fresher skin takes time. And to achieve your ideal results, you’ll likely need multiple treatments. We recommend setting up a free consultation where your plastic surgeon can help set your expectations for treatment and how many treatments they may recommend for your specific needs and goals.

Who Can Get a BBL Treatment?

If you are man or woman suffering from hyperpigmentation or heavily textured skin, then you are a great candidate for a BBL treatment. The lasers can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions. And the laser filter and modality can even be modified to meet your specific needs. During your initial consultation, your nurse or doctor will be able to determine how best to achieve your specific goals.

Are BroadBand Laser Treatments Safe?

Not only are BBL Treatments highly effective, they are also safe! BroadBand Laser treatments are FDA approved for almost every area of the body.

Where Can I Get a BBL Treatment?

Because BroadBand laser treatments involve lasers being used on your skin, the largest organ of your body, it is critical that your treatment be from a professionally trained source using the proper equipment. Ensure that your doctor holds a certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgeons, and that they will be doing the BroadBand laser treatment in an adequately equipped office or surgery, and that the device they are using is the original, patented device, not a knock-off or other laser treatment. Find an office that does BroadBand laser treatment near you, and ask to schedule an initial consultation.
