One of the most common reasons patients choose to go through a plastic surgery is because they are hoping to reclaim some of their youth by enhancing or redefining some of their features. Eyelid lifts, hand rejuvenations, Botox treatments, and more all battle the toll time takes on a body. And as you consider which treatments you want, you might want to consider treatment timing.

Recent research has shown that there are exact ages when your body will “advance” to its next season of aging, and this ground-breaking information could change which cosmetic procedures you want to have and when you want to have them. Knowing when your skin may begin to wrinkle or sag more, or when your breasts are going to start drooping can help you plan a preemptive surgery, or to know to schedule a Botox injection right after your birthday!

The Ages When You Age

A study released from Stanford University brought to light the fact that aging is not an equally gradual process, but there are benchmark moments during which we can all expect to see dramatic changes. In the study, they tested the blood plasma of over 4,200 participants, whose ages ranged from 18 to 95 years old.

The results were surprising: by measuring the level of certain proteins in the blood, they discovered that depending on the age of the participant, the levels were different. These differences in protein may actually be a causation of, rather than a reaction to, aging.

Diving further into the analyzation of the data, they found there were definite ages, or times, that humans go through significant changes, around ages 34, 60, and 78. The researchers even created a way to estimate someone’s age (within a range of three years) by testing their blood for these protein levels.

The Best Ages for Anti-Aging Plastic Surgery

Because this research is so new, the ramifications have not been fully investigated, but it will certainly change many aspects of the medical world. Doctors will be able to foresee possible cases of dementia and other age-related diseases, and address them preemptively.

In the same vein, you will be able to watch for, and expect significant changes at the ages of 34, 60, and 78, and you will be prepared! Perhaps you will schedule a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon before you turning 34 so you have an anti-aging game-plan in place. You could choose to wait to have a procedure like a facelift done after your 60th birthday so you get the most dramatic results. Or you could decide to have a game plan in place for when you turn 78.

Top 5 of Anti-Aging Plastic Surgery Procedures

Here are five of the best anti-aging cosmetic procedures for you to consider as you are now empowered with the knowledge of when you might be seeing some dramatic differences at particular ages! Some of these are extremely popular and commonly used, and some are not so well-known, but can play a huge role in your appearance and be worth the investment.

1. Facelift

A traditional facelift helps address the increase of sags and wrinkles in the face, particularly towards the middle of your face. A brow lift, which can be done at the same time as the face lift does exactly what you would imagine: lift the brows! If you are seeing jowls emerging and would like to remove them, a lower facelift will specifically target that area of your cheeks. Depending on their age, many people choose the mini facelift over the full facelift. It doesn’t require anesthesia and specifically targets the lower half of your face.

2. Eyelid Lift

One of the most noticeable signs of aging is droopy eyelids and crow’s feet. An eyelid lift will reduce the sagging of your eyelids, and bring back that wide-eyed, youthful look. It can also help with significant bags under the eyes.

3. Liposuction

As you age, you might experience weight gain in areas that, no matter how hard you exercise or diet, they stubbornly refuse to budge. If this sounds like you, then liposuction might be an option to consider. Liposuction can remove fat to contour and tone almost any part of the body, including underarms (bat wings), abdomen, thighs, and so much more.

4. Breast Augmentation or Lift

Especially if you have been pregnant at all in your lifetime or if you’ve experience the effects of gravity, it is likely that your breasts have begun to lose their once perky shape. A breast lift can bring your breasts back up to speed, and a breast augmentation can give you back the shape you once had.

5. Hand Rejuvenation

While many people choose to focus on the face, hands are actually one of the most tell-tale signs of aging. A hand rejuvenation can give you an entirely new and youthful look by reducing discoloration due to liver spots, replace any fat lost, and decrease any excess skin.
