Creams and potions can't do what skin care lasers can do
Skin care aging happens to everyone. While you will never have baby smooth skin again, new technologies allow us to slow down the aging process as well as reverse some the changes that affect our skin as we age. This includes fine lines, deep wrinkles, textural issues, brown spots, and other color changes.
Fine lines due to aging are due to the folding of the skin due to the break-down of skin collagen as your tissue loses volume. Fine lines and other textural issue with the skin are treated with one or all of the following options.
- Profractional Laser Peel

Deep facial wrinkles represent an exaggeration of the fine lines described above. They are, however, more often caused by strong actions of the facial muscles. For example, the deep horizontal wrinkles of the forehead are caused by the Frontalis muscle of the forehead that raises the eyebrows, while the crows feet wrinkles are caused by the orbicularis muscle the surrounds the eye.
Reducing the actions of these muscles using Botox is usually effective. However, the lines may have broken down the collagen in these areas and residual deep wrinkles may still persist. The deep lines may require a deep laser resurfacing.

Sun damage from UV exposure affects our cellular DNA leading to progressive problems with new skin generation. The skin becomes discolored and rough. Collagen begins to break down and collagen fibers begin to become disorganized.
The treatment options include one or all of the following:
Forever Young BBL
The Forever Young BBL is the workhorse option for treating brown spots and other skin discolorations. As the name implies, however, the broad bands of light ( BBL ) have been shown to rejuvenate cellular DNA to a more youthful and organized. Patients have been shown to have more radiant skin for longer with 3-4 treatments a year spaced 3 months apart.
Active Acne is something that affects a significant amount of young people and can also affect adults too.
The Forever Young BBL can help kill the bacteria that creates spots by penetrating deep into the skin. It also stimulates the production of skin cells. It also reduces the production of skin oils and overactive sebaceous glands which cause breakouts.
Multiple treatments are extremely effective at reducing scarring and breakouts.
Acne scars can be reduced and/or eliminated through the BBL laser treatment.
There is little to no downtime and the pain is minimal. Once the scarring is reduced or eliminated, no touch ups are required.

Laser treatment for scars can help reduce pain and itching, prevent a raised scar forming after surgery, reduce redness, and help with movement.
Fillers can help with some types of pitted scars but this is not a permanent solution.
Laser treatments won’t be removed but their appearance will be vastly improved.
Rosacea is a skin condition that causes redness and small, pus filled bumps on the face.
We treat rosacea with our BBL Laser treatment followed by a skincare regime that can help with the long term symptoms. The laser can reduce the visible blood vessels and redness.
Brown pigmentation occurs as we age and are very common particularly in people who have been out in the sun, smoke, drink regularly and have an unhealthy diet.
Lasers can reduce and eliminate those brown spots. After two to three sessions they will have faded or disappeared without causing damage to the skin.
Sun damage causes wrinkles, discolored skin and loose skin.
Lasers can not undo the damage to the DNA from sun damage but they can help with the appearance. Spots are reduced or eliminated, wrinkles reduced and skin plumps through the rejuvenation of skin cells.

The broadband light (or BBL) therapy is the next generation of intense pulse light phototherapy treatment. The broader band of light is better able to target many of the skin changes of aging. The light energy has also been shown to rejuvenate cellular DNA unlike any other modality.
These include brown age and sun spots, spider veins, broken capillaries, and rosacea. The Forever Young BBL is by far the most popular laser system we offer. It is by far the most cost effective skin care option available at Aesthetic and there is no down-time for most patients. Most patients happily purchase a package that will provide them year-round radiant skin.
The Forever Young BBL is often combined with the Profractional and the MicroLaser Peel. The combined package is called the Triple Laser.

The Profractional Laser System is the most advanced fractional laser system used to treat fine lines, tighten skin, and rejuvenate cellular collagen. Think of the Profractional System as a Microneedling on steroids. The laser works by creating micro-columns in your skin to an adjustable depth. This is a fancy way of saying that we are aerating your skin.
When you aerate your lawn, you are making holes in the grass in order to aerate and provide nutrients to the grass roots. The analogy follows that the profractional is providing micro-injuries to the layers of the skin. The injury of the deep dermis layer is repaired by the body by laying down more and reorganizing existing collagen.
The result is tighter and more rejuvenated skin, reduction of fine lines, tighter and healthier skin that is more resistant to sagging and age. Because Profractional Laser treatments do not create a continuous field of injury, the remaining healthy tissue is able to rapidly heal the injured areas, build collagen deep in the papillary dermis and induce skin contraction.
The microlaser peel is a lighter version of a Deep Laser Resurfacing. The laser delivers a very controlled ablation of the surface skin (epidermis) that can be set anywhere from 10 microns deep to 1000 microns deep. The control allows us to treat tailor the treatment depth to the problem at hand. A light 10 to 20 micron treatment may be called for in a young patient with very few fine lines that needs to get back to work in 2 days. A deeper 500 micron peel may be called for in an older patient with deep wrinkles such as smoker’s lines.
The microlaser peel is ideal for skin care maintenance, removing fine lines and improving skin texture and radiance.
Deep Laser Resurfacing is exactly as the name implies. It is an erbium based laser that is tunable in both depth and heat. Like the microlaser peel, the laser depth can be controlled from very superficial 10-20 microns to deep. This depth control allows us to remove superficial fine lines to deep wrinkles. The delivery of heat is also tunable. Imagine shrink wrap exposed to heat. This is how the skin reacts to heat. The combination of depth control and heat allows for the removal of deep wrinkles and skin shrinkage.
The Triple Laser Peel is the most popular laser package provided at Aesthetica. The pocket combines the benefits of the microlaser peel, the forever young BBL, and the profractional laser peel. The package can be purchases as a light treatment or a pro (deeper) more aggressive treatment.
The light version requires 3-5 days of recovery (depending on how light). The pro version requires about 7-10 days of recovery.
Skin care products are notoriously poor at TREATING the signs of aging, particularly when you consider that skin care products might take months to lighten a brown spot or fine line while a forever young bbl will remove the brown spots in minutes for not much more money.
Instead, we believe in skin care products such as retin a, hydroquinone, vitamin c, etc as adjuncts for maintenance as opposed to treatment.
